The Baj-Macario family are the owners of the estate « Castello del Trebbio », which has a surface area of 350 hectares. It is situated in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini and Chianti Rufina areas, only a few kilometers from Florence (15 km).
About 54 hectares of this area are dedicated to wine production (vineyards).
Exquisite grapes are used for the creation of our great wines such as the Chianti DOCG (basic Chianti), the Lastricato (Chianti Rufina Riserva Docg, 100% Sangiovese Grapes) and the Pazzesco (igt Supertuscan with Merlot and Syrah). These wines are succesfully exported all over the world.
From our olives — we have more than 10,000 trees — we produce excellent extra virgin olive oil. Ms. Anna Baj-Macario, owner of Castello del Trebbio, personally selects the olives that we use for the production.
We recently purchased our own « Frantoio » (machinery to press olives). Our wines and olive oil are stored in the centuries old wine cellars of the castle, where the ideal temperature is constant during the whole year. The wines mature in barrels of oak wood. Some of them, f.e. the Lastricato and the Pazzesco, mature also in barrels for a minimum of six months before they are bottled.
