MANNUCCI DROANDI

« The Azienda Agricola Mannucci Droandi has its origins in the agricultural and wine-growing traditions of all the branches of the Droandi family
The Mannucci family had been landowners in the Valdarno since at least the early 19th century »

As for the Droandi, we are certain that they were cultivators and then farmers in Carmignano from the 18th century, as evidenced by the presence of the illustrious Lorenzo Droandi (representative of this elite of modern and competent farmers inspired by the teachings of Cosimo Ridolfi and Bettino Ricasoli) who, in the second half of the 19th century, was « minister » (administrator) of the Fattoria del Borro in Valdarno, to whom he gave the organisation that has practically succeeded until nowadays. On my maternal grandmother’s side, one of my ancestors, Francesco Carafa, even traded wine in Lucca at about the same time.

Today, it is a family-managed farm for which I am in responsibility, supported by my wife Maria Grazia Mammuccini (also a farmer’s daughter) and my nephew Andrea Mammuccini. Our objective is quality (of the product and of the terroir) and this is what we are working towards, with the help of qualified collaborators, trying to combine the best of tradition with innovation to pursue as best as possible what previous generations have been able to build.
